Sergeant Reginald William Horton, 15/477

Born Leicester 1896.
Died Germany 12th of November 1918.

Reginald William Horton was the only son of William (a stockbroker) and Mary Ann Horton, of Leicester, at the time of enlistment he was living with his widowed Aunt Harriet, at Butterwell house, upper poppleton, York.
His Aunt was the head of St Oswald’s School, Fulford road, York, where both he and his sister Constance had boarded and been educated.

He enlisted on the 6th of September 1914 Serving as a Sniper and platoon bomber with number 12 platoon of C company in Colsterdale Egypt and France.

It is not clear how or when he was captured, and became a prisoner of war, only his death 24 hours after the war had ended, and his place of burial are confirmed, his grave is in Berlin South Western Cemetery, Germany
