Died France 14th of August 1918. Aged 27.
Burton Poppleton was one of 12 children,4of which died in infancy, born to Joe and Mary Ann Poppleton, Grocers and Drapers of Post Office road, Featherstone, Yorks, at the time of his enlistment in Leeds on the 5th of September 1914 he was working as a Grocers assistant in the family business. He served with the Pals in Colsterdale Egypt and France, having survived unscathed all the fighting the Pals were involved in during the war he sadly died just before the end of hostilitiesin 1918.
He lies in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France.
Lance Corporal Frank Poppleton, brother of above was killed in action with the 8th Battalion (Leeds Rifles) on the 20th of July 1918 aged 29. He his buried in Marfaux British Cemetery France.
